Guess what? Yup, it’s just about time for the second MN TriClub Century Ride of 2009. The ride will take place next Sunday, June 21st! This promises to be a wonderful ride with lots of great folks of all abilities in attendance. All are welcome: MN TriClub members, TCMC members and non-members alike. As with all of our Century Rides, it’s a fully supported ride with snacks and fluids supplied on the course. Please note that your RSVP should go to Art (Art15651@frontierne t.net) this month.
June’s ride will be on our always popular Western Route . This is an out-and-back ride on generally quiet country roads. Since it’s an out-and-back ride, you can ride as little or as much of the route as you want to. There will be 2 aid stations: Watertown and Lester Prairie – roughly at miles 20 & 40 on the way out and miles 60 & 80 on the way back. Each aid station will have energy bars, gels, water, Gatorade powder, fruit, pretzels, cookies, extra bike tubes, CO2 cartridges, sun block, bug spray, hand wipes and more. You can see a map of the Western Route here. As with all of our rides, an experienced rider will ride at the back of the group up until the first aid station ( Watertown ) so that you won’t get lost, be dropped or be without help for a mechanical issue. All you need to do is ride and have fun. This ride is always well attended, so don’t be left out!
Come on out and support the MNTriClub's own triathlon. If you're not racing or out of town, we could use your help.
It's that time. It's time for me to get down on one knee and ask for all MNTriClub members who do not already have plans for the 4th of July weekend or are not already signed up to do the MinneMan to come out and volunteer. We have all sorts of tasks. Even if you are not available on July 4th to help out on race day, there are other days and times we could use a helping hand. We have two packet pick-ups this year: one is on Saturday June 27th at Marathon Sports from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and another on Thursday, July 3rd at the Wingate Inn in Coon Rapids from 3:00 to 9:00 pm. Also we could use some help on the afternoon of July 3rd to help set up the course and transition area.
One of the many benefits of being an MNTriClub member are the monthly century rides in the summer. We do these rides once per month from May through September. The rides are 100 miles out and back, meaning that you do not have to bike all 100 miles, but go out as far as you like, and then turn around. Along the way we will have aid stations set up every 20 miles. These aid stations are stocked full of goodies. Things like: energy bars, gels, oranges, bananas, pretzels, cookies (including the ever popular Nutter Butters and Fig Newtons), water, ice, sport drink powder, suntan lotion, extra tubes (there is a slight charge for these on the honor system), and more. The first 20 miles of each ride is a guaranteed no drop ride. Before departing the parking lot, all riders will get a map of the ride with cell phone numbers of MNTriClub board members to call in the event of a problem. Non-members are welcome at these rides, however there is a $10 per person charge for non-members.
Here is an easy, last minute gift for that triathlete on your shopping list: a membership to the MNTriClub. The 2009 memberships are now available through Active.com. Don't forget to renew yours before it expires at the end of the month.
Happy Holidays from the MNTriClub.
